What does “re-baseline” mean in Project Management?
ByI often hear people talk about “re-baseline” projects. What does that mean exactly (any project managers out there?) Thanks!

When you are driving a project to establish a “baseline” estimates of costs and schedules based on assumptions principle. The thing is, at the beginning of a project there are a lot of uncertainty, so it’s really just a rough estimate at this point. As things develop, you start to take some of the uncertainty. In addition, situations change – the concept for the project could change, could change the availability of resources, costs could rise, etc. “Re-basline” means that the information has grown or changed enough to justify upgrading their assumptions and doing exactly what it says – issueing a new estimate of reference and calendario.Esto could be done in a reactive manner just because things have changed and you realize that you are so far out of service to be actualizar.Por other hand, for projects long with a high level of uncertainty, you might agree in advance that you rebaseline at certain critical points – when important decisions are made, or when you are within a specified period of activity. It’s good to have that kind of discussion with his leadership – that way all the uncertainties and understand how it will be their management.
