This was a total disappointment to me. Nothing new here, just the same old “things to do in a box”, shaping, etc. The author just took everyone else’s clicker training ideas and put them into her book. She does give credit to the others, but if you have any other clicker books, give this one a pass.

This purchase like all my others was a 10. Received the book on time and it was in mint condition as promised.

This is absolutely one of the best dog training books that I have come across since I began reading on the subject about 10 years ago. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the field.

This book packs a lot of information. The book gets into the dog’s head to try to get it to do what you want without using traditional corrections (positive punishments). Instead, it promotes using positive reinforcement and has you ignore unwanted behavior.
This is a training book, but I would still recommend it to a new dog owner when coupled with Good Owners, Great Dogs by Brian Kilcommon. This combination will give you solid basics on care and traditional training methods, as well as the very cool training methods from When Pigs Fly.

This books reminds you why you love the breed you have and all of the positives that are associated with your breed. But it goes further to allow owners to use those particular traits to train their dog. This isn’t a new concept but the author explains it extremely clearly and (for me at least) re-inspired me to continue training.
This is an awesome book. I have a ‘pigs fly’ breed that I wanted to compete with in Agility with but was too scared to trust off lead…this book has given my the confidence to train my dog to achieve this.
As another review says – there are lots of ‘oh, duh’ moments here where you realise you know what the author is saying, but hadn’t realised it yourself! The author uses lots of other trainers ideas but applies them in new ways is a very fun and easy to understand format.
One of my top 3 dog training books – particularly if you have a non-biddible breed (and are surrounded by perfectly behaved border collies, german shepherds and shelties) and are looking for advice!
